This charming work of art is executed in the bold and sinuous style characteristic of the work of the great master, Korin. The box is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. A covered, round wood zushi executed with multi -colored lacquers on a rich red-lacquered ground, its lid with lotus petals in silver and gold hiramaki-e. The interior reveals Amida Buddha seated on a lotus throne carved in high relief with colored lacquers, the inside cover with lotus flowers and leaves swirling beside a meandering stream.
