Japanese Antique Ceramic Incense Burner
A tripodic studio porcelain incense burner reminiscent of ancient Chinese bronze configurations. Its striking color palette defines the lower portion's three legs in a brilliant yellow enamel and the cartouches along the shoulders, deep cobalt blue on an iron red ground patterned with geometric shapes. The rim is decorated with images of shishi heads emerging from a dense, swirling cobalt ground. Along the shoulders, dynamic dragons dash among racing clouds. Makuzu Kozan underglaze blue signature cartouche can be found on the base. This incense burner is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. Height: 4", diameter: 5.5" Meiji Period, Japan
